WE NEED YOUR HELP!! Please take a moment to write to your county supervisor and urge him/her to vote for the appointment of an advisory committee to the shelter.
This committee will be all volunteer, consisting of representatives from the veterinary field, experienced rescue groups, financial advisors, etc. It will cost the tax payers nothing and will be capable of research, advice and implementation of steps toward the goal of ending the unnecessary killing in Chesterfield County, making our shelter the BEST it can be. This was done in Charlottesville within one year - HELP US DO IT HERE!!

Hi everyone, looking to find a very loving family for our "Pom" of whom we love so much.
To tell you a tad bit about our dog, He is a 5yr old full bred/standard size pomeranian named "Ta'Rae" who is a healthy, neutured & very active. He loves to cuddle with you in the bed,loves to play with his toy,& occassionally do a few tricks-lol.... "Ta'Rae definately understands commands like "NO, Get Down,Stop,Come Here,Sit, Lets Go Outside, & the thing that I find funny is that he knows the phrase- "Do want something to eat", that is when it pertains to table food-lol.... Ta'Rae is house trained as well as crate trained as long as he is properly taken out. (Providing a set schedule for him such as we do is usually best). He extremely loves kids & adults of all kinds & is a non-aggressor. If you do not enjoy the lap dog type, then he is definately not for you. He is up on all his shots & will come with papers. I am looking to re-home him as soon as possible as to the fact of my situation & wouldn't be able to keep him for very long.

All these sad and pitiful faces belong to Bladen County Animal Control in Elizabethtown. Their eyes could tell you a story of how depressed they are .....that they have been abandoned and neglected.....how no one cared for them anymore......how easily they were disposed of and how hurt they feel. They should be enjoying the doggie park, playing fetch in the back yard, kicking back on the sofa for an afternoon nap and most of all, being loved, hugged and kissed from a family who will take care of them FOREVER !!! Please breathe life back into their hearts again and give them the second chance they deserve. Last week they escaped being euthanized but I'm afraid this week they won't be so lucky. I've been told that they "may" more like probably unless we get another miracle, be put down on Wednesday so if you can help save any of them, NOW IS THE TIME TO DO IT!! Hi there~

I am a caretaker for several Feral cat colonies. I have one colony that is not in such an animal friendly area. I'm thinking of getting the cats fixed & vaccinated ect. and looking for a farm or maybe some humane person has land. I'm willing to provide food & shelter too. The kittens are probably 4 months old ( at the most ) .So they may come around to trusting humans.

I would not normally do this but the situation where the cats are is not a good one. Sadly there are just some cruel,inhumane humans out there.

Please!Please!Please!!! Spay/Neuter your cats. There aren't enough homes. Too many are suffering.

He has absolutely no medical issues and has been living with two other dogs his entire life. He is very good with children, but has no idea what a cat or other animals are!
He is house trained and loves to sleep on his big pillow at night. He is absolutely beautiful and loveable. Again, he is perfectly house trained, very well mannered, and absolutely loves everybody! Does extremely well with other dogs. Again, he is house and leash trained and knows a few commands (sit, paw, STOP :-)). He has his own pillow and crate (if necessary). He sleeps on his pillow at night/during the day, but technically is not crate trained. He is 2 1/2 years old and is neutered. All shots etc. are up to date and we have all his vaccination/vet documents. Serious inquiries only! We can give you the vet's number if you would like to talk with them. He is looking for a new home because we are expecting another child and due to health issues with our youngest daughter. My Experience:

I am a reliable and responsible dog owner. REFERENCES can be provided upon request! Have lived with multiple dogs all my life, and many other types of pets, minus cats. Have worked professionally for a while doing some dog training and dog rehabilitation, and have a natural understanding of dog behavior. I also love dogs, so your pets will be treated well. I have two dogs here at the house - one I own, the other is a foster for the Henrico Humane Society. My home is also a clean and non-smoking home.

I provide overnight and daytime care for your dogs in my house. All dogs must not have aggression problems, and must get along with strange people and strange dogs. All dogs must also be UTD on shots, please provide this record from your vet. I ask this to be provided in respect of the other animals at my house so we don't spread around diseases, and fleas, or worms.

Please provide a crate for your animals, their food, toys, dog bed, leashes and whatever else you want to bring for them to make their stay with me comfortable. While here, they will be fed and cared for and have the constant companionship of other dogs to play with in a fenced-in yard. This is much better than taking them to a doggy daycare where they spend the majority of their time in a dirty kennel in their crates! (Trust me, I use to work for one) Walks will be provided upon request. Grooming can also be provided at an extra charge. If they are here on the weekends, I do routine trips to Barker Field Dog Park so they can excercise and play some more.

The rate is $25 per night for the first dog, and any additional dogs are an extra $10 per dog/per night. Daycare charges with no overnight is $12 per day, and $5 per extra dog. Pickup times for daycare on the weekdays is anytime after 5pm, occassional exceptions can be made if I have the flexibility.

Bear is now neutered, UTD on vaccinations, HW negative and UTD on heartguard and Frontline. Bear is house broken and crate trained - but is also trustworthy to be loose in the house. He is great with other dogs, cats, kids, and even farm animals (including small animals like chickens and rabbits). Bear has excellent leash manners and rides well in the car. He likes the dog park and also running alongside a bike.

For the most part Bear has overcome his rough beginning - but he is still learning how to trust people. He is comfortable enough to come up to strangers for treats and to give kisses - but he will still take a few steps back if strange people reach out too quick to try and pet him. Bear is also more accepting of strange people (and adjusts faster) when other dogs are present - and LOVES to play w/ other dogs. For this reason he is only available to a home with at least one other dog for company. Having that been said - he has excellent canine social skills. He is polite, respectful and playful all at the same time. He's the kind of dog that can come into your home and bond with existing dogs with out making them feel jealous or put out. He is not the type to challenge for dominance, etc.

When I first fostered Jazzy, I was scared. She had SUPER high energy. She jumped on me. She mouthed me. She grabbed pillows and shook them around. I thought that Jazzy was aggressive. I was waiting for the day that she grabbed my arm, and shook me about like the pillow. After 2 years, I have grown patient. She will show me her love after her energy has been exhausted. I failed Jazzy because I have had 7 other dogs… some of them my dogs, some of them fosters. I don’t always have the patience for Jazzy. She deserves so much more.



Love is kind…

I have a fearful dog (not Jazzy) that lives in the same house as Jazzy. Amber doesn’t want to kill other dogs--- she just needs to control. Jazzy is bigger than life. The only one to control Jazzy—is Jazzy. Amber picked on Jazzy. Jazzy received emergency care. She was treated with a drainage tube. She had several stitches. She had several months of antibiotics. Amber made out with zero. Nothing. Jazzy's skin is scarred. She is still emotionally scarred, but she gives Amber a kiss through the cage every time she gets out of her crate.



Love does not boast…

Jazzy is not a pretty dog. She has been called “Jazzy the Piggie” Her ears perk up like a little piggie. She is stout like a piggie. She is short like a piggie. Her tail curles like a piggie. Over Halloween she was told that she looks like a bat—a blood sucking bad. She does not claim to perform incredible tricks. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And for all of these reasons, Jazzy is beautiful.


Love is not rude.

OK, you got me here… Jazzy WILL be rude. She will jump on you to play with your sleeve. She will grab your towel when you are drying off… Whatever will give her an immediate reaction. She loves to see you shriek with shock OR enjoyment. She wants to play with you.



Jazzy is not your typical dog. She is ugly. She is not particularly obedient. We lovingly call her "CRAZY MUTT!!" She’s not a dog you would “be looking for” but she’s looking for you.

She is LOVE.
Let her love you. She deserves it. She has an interesting history before I came to foster her. Her story is heartbreaking.

Jazzy has been through obedience boot camp and has graduated obedience class. She is spayed, up to date on shots, and has a microchip. Please consider adopting her.

3rd picture, smaller, shorter haired girl. Very quiet, but still gets playful. She is a little smaller then all of her siblings. she does not like dogs AT ALL!
4th picture, my only male in the litter. He is stripped like a tiger, very loving, the biggest purrbox and most playful. He gets along with large dogs, and other cats very well.

I have a two level hamster cage, mainly pink and clear for sale. The wheel and tubes are various
I paid $45 for it when new at Petsmart.
Since that time I've upgraded the wheel, and added several extra tubes. The water bottle is included.
