This cane has a pommel that is gold-plated copper. The copper is showing through in a few places. That's how I was able to tell that it was not rolled gold or solid gold, but the wear is not great. It does have a monogram that I, of course, can't read. The cane is 33.5 in long, about 2.5 in too short for me, as I need a 36. The shaft is ebony, and it's been water-tested. Ebony and rosewood are the only two natural woods that will sink in water; even oak will float, but ebony will not. This shaft is ebony. The ferrule is damaged but usable; it probably needs replacing. All in all, it's a good, serviceable cane with a lot of strength, and because it's gold, it's an eye catcher.
