If you're looking for a GMT400 ('88-'98) Chevy Suburban and have solid DIY skills, this is a decent vehicle to restore and/or to mod.
The bad: The transmission slips badly; it needs rebuilt. You’ll need a tow truck or trailer it to get it home.
It needs four new tires, A/C, bodywork, and paint. It has rust, but fortunately it's mostly surface rust. The ABS dash light is on. The custom interior woodwork needs to be refinished.
The good: Only 110,000 miles. It's a Silverado. The engine (5.7L) starts right up and runs well. When it was drivable, it routinely got 17 to 20 mpg. It has a 42 gallon gas tank. Rear A/C and heat. A newish battery. The upholstery, carpet and headliner are in great shape. Yes, the interior needs to be thoroughly cleaned, because it's musty and dirty. But would clean up nicely. Other than the ABS light, the brakes work fine. It has braided stainless steel brake lines. 4WD. Bilstein shocks and polyurethane suspension bushings, noticeably improved the handling.
It's hard for me to let this go, because I'd love to restore it myself. But I don't have the body and paint skills, the space, or the time that it would take to do it justice. Besides, I have another GMT400 Suburban that is more than 90% restored.
Not interested in parting it out, so please don't ask.
