This one-of-a-kind chest on legs is the work of artist Kari Cannistraro, from whom I purchased it at an art show in Northern Virginia in 1997. It is a solid, all wood piece that is also relatively light in weight. She was a young artist then and I believe this was more a piece of whimsy as it was different from her other pieces. I believe she based her painting of this piece at the time on an original by Johannes Spitler. (See the pic of Spitler’s pine dower chest). I have also included pics of the artist’s bio that she included with my purchase of this piece. This piece is handmade and hand painted. I am reluctantly selling due to some downsizing. Cash only. All sales final.
