Antique Persian Kashmar Archeology rug was hand knotted in Iran of 100% natural wool on a cotton foundation. This rug is 120+ years old, has medium to low wool piles and is in excellent condition for its age. This rug has knots per square inch in excess of 175+. Beautiful colors and made with excellent quality. No repairs, very soft and showing abrash (uneven fading) throughout the rug due to the use of antiquated vegetable dyes. There are several animals and ancient type vases woven into this rug. This rug came from an established rug merchant. Clean and ready to be enjoyed. Kashmar rugs are beautiful, interesting rugs that are hand knotted in the small town of Kashmar in the Khorassan province of east Persia, not far from Meshed. These rugs from Kashmar are known for their fine quality. This vase design rug belongs to the family of Zirkhaki designs, where the designer has allowed himself considerable license. Zirkhaki, which in the Persian language means "under the earth", represents items found in some of the thousands of ancient archeological sites of Iran-pots, vases, statuettes, mythical figures, etc. These rugs have enormous appeal because of their UNIQUE design, which makes them very special.
