Kerman rugs are one of the most recognizable within the Persian rug category. Kerman is an ancient city, with an incredible history going back over a 1000+ years. Marco Polo was one of the first westerners to view Kerman rugs. A typical pattern for Kerman rugs is a floral in the main border with a central medallion in the field. Kerman rugs are distinctive, desirable - and, if in good condition, valuable. Many of the Kerman rugs produced have at least one feature in common - the Damask rose, whose flower is not only used as a figurative motif incorporated into the rug design.
