This column was salvaged from the Philadelphia, PA industrial area. It’s more than a typical hollow column as it was attached on the corner of a building that had a store in that corner. This incredibly heavy cast iron post was the single piece that held up a multi-story building’s entrance opening as it was mounted on the corner and allowed there to be an open base corner entrance.
All sides of the lower section of the column have an ornate arched double column design. Deep thick grooves climb up and around the column as it tapers to the top to show even more details. Makers mark (not completely visible) is at the bottom side which is pictured. Layers of red paint remain with flaking.
Measurements: 9 foot 6 inches tall. Bottom and very top base: 11 3/4" square. Tapering down to 7" in diameter as you go up.
This is just one example from thousands of architectural salvaged items we have in our shop!
