This vintage African drum is handmade of solid wood. It is likely to be a ngoma drum from Central Africa. In the African culture drums are used for ceremonial occasions, communicating, storytelling etc. Since it is handmade, it is slightly asymmetrical. The woood has been carved in places and has a leather drum head. It stands 21 3/4” High, its leather drumhead is 8 3/4” in Diameter and the base is 7” in Diameter. There is a small rope attached that makes it easy to carry or “play” the drum while having it slung over the shoulder. This piece is not only functional-but a piece of art! I am selling due to some downsizing. Cash only. All sales final.
