I'm getting cocktail hour gigs doing solo guitar and I want to offer duo/trio/quartet options to prospective clients.
I'm taking pop tunes and working out solo arrangements and it goes over very well for events where they want the vibe but not a show, if you know what I mean. Basically, it's not jazz, it's not jam band, it's playing the song the way the artist wrote it, minus the vocals. Old stuff, new stuff, whatever. Just not jazz and not jam band, oh sorry, I already said that.
I'm interested in hearing from fingerstyle guitarists, bass players and percussionists.
Guitarists; not looking for campfire strumming, looking for someone who can interpret a vocal melody with single note lines, double stops, chord-melody, play harmony lines with me, etc… Although I like improvising, this gig is probably <10% guitar solos. Probably less.
Percussionist; looking for low-volume mellow sound, minimalist. I've got the PA, so you can play quietly on any hand drum you like. I could see settings where the gig calls for a cocktail kit or some combo.
Bass players - looking for someone who can play the tunes the way they were written, that's all. Would be great if you play upright or one of those "sticks" that sounds like an upright or whatever they call those things.
Looking for players who can slide into a professional setting. Coat/tie on some gigs. I'm getting calls from C'ville to W'burg and up in D.C. from event planners, wedding planners and venues that I've been playing at. Gigs will usually be booked way in the future so we're sharing calendars and coordinating. Reading a chart and learning the tunes on your own is critical.
