We are seeking a qualified Electronics / Security Technician to support commercial construction and retrofit projects in the Richmond, VA region. This position is responsible for the installation, testing, and commissioning of electronic security and life safety systems on active construction sites and occupied facilities. The ideal candidate is safety focused, dependable, and experienced working within construction schedules, jobsite rules, and customer requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Install, terminate, program, and commission intrusion, fire alarm, CCTV, and access control systems on commercial construction projects.
• Pull, route, and secure low voltage cabling, including drilling through structural materials, trenching, and limited aerial work as required.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and project specifications to ensure systems are installed per contract documents.
• Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and final verification to meet manufacturer standards, applicable codes, and AHJ requirements.
• Coordinate work with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades to maintain productivity and jobsite safety.
• Maintain a clean, professional jobsite appearance and properly secure tools, equipment, and materials.
• Follow all company, customer, and OSHA safety policies while on site.
• Participate in manufacturer and company training to remain current on systems and technology.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 1–3 years of field experience installing and/or servicing intrusion, fire alarm, access control, and CCTV systems.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational or Technical training in electrical, electronics, security, or computer systems preferred.
• Working knowledge of IP video systems and basic networking concepts preferred.
• Ability to climb ladders up to 16 feet and safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional nights, weekends, or emergency service calls.
• Valid state driver’s license with no restrictions and acceptable driving record.
Safety & Jobsite Requirements
• Must successfully pass a pre employment drug screening.
• Must complete and maintain OSHA 10 Construction Safety certification.
• Must have and properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety footwear, as required by jobsite conditions.
