Volunteer at VEWS Horse Rescue (Ashland, VA) (Ashland VA)

Love horses? Volunteer with a local nonprofit horse rescue organization. Virginia Equine Welfare Society (VEWS) is looking for dedicated and compassionate horse lovers to care for our rescue horses. Various opportunities are available. We are looking for volunteers to help with morning and/or evening shift work. Shift work entails cleaning stalls, feeding the horses and grooming the horses. Training is provided and we follow the natural horsemanship principals. We are currently recruiting for volunteers to help on the fundraising committee. To continue our mission of saving, retraining and rehoming our horses we fundraise multiple times over the year and need help with promotions and execution of these events. Please inquire if you are serious, responsible and have a passion for horses! Due to the nature of working with and rehabilitating abused horses there is a volunteer age requirement of 14 and older. If a volunteer is under 16 an adult must accompany them to their scheduled barn shifts. Due to the nature of working with abused and neglected horses we also require volunteers to be very responsible, mature and committed to following all our barn rules to ensure the safety for all volunteers and horses. We are located in Ashland, Virginia
