⚡ Sweetgum Firewood at a Glance
BTU rating: ~20.6 million BTUs per cord — moderate-good heat output
Splitting: Can be Difficult due to interlocked grain (similar to sycamore)
Smoke and smell: Low smoke when seasoned; pleasant sweet aroma when burning
Seasoning time: 12–18 months minimum
Spark level: Low-moderate — acceptable in most fireplaces
Best use: Mix with higher-BTU wood for efficient fires; excellent kindling once split small
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (decent to good firewood — better than sycamore, not as good as oak)
