This Pre-WW2 German 84/98 III Mauser K98k Bayonet & Scabbard is in good condition overall and shows expected evidence of age, service and storage. The bayonet was produced for Portugal sometime in 1937 by an unknown firm in Solingen. The blade has retained it's original unsharpened edge and also still retains much of it's original high polish blued finish. Waffenamt stamps (253) can be noted on the pommel and the pommel press stud. A typical Portuguese style serial number is also stamped on the pommel. The wooden grips are in good condition overall and are free from any noticeable cracks or other serious damage. The pommel press-stud is free and appears to function as you would expect. The scabbard is clean and free from any noticeable dents or other damage however expected wear from handling and storage can be detected. It appears to be from the same 1937 contract and is a correct match for the blade. The throat retention screw is free and the throat-spring is easily removed. This bayonet would make a fine compliment to any Portuguese m/937 rifle or 1941 K98k contract rifle. $250 OBO
